MEMORY LANE

I drove the road of hard knocks
Rolling over them rocks
Chasing a dream that never returned

Gambled and bet the whole pot
Thought I had a good shot
But in the end I crashed and burned

I WAS LIGHT ON MY FEET

BUT IT WAS ALL IN VAIN
FOUND NO LUCK ON EASY STREET
NOW I'M STUCK IN MEMORY LANE

I've been drug through the trenches
Mistreated by wenches
Had my heart chewed on and spat out
Been cheated and lied to
Been yelled at and cried to
Ran the gambit of certainty and doubt

I WAS LIGHT ON MY FEET
BUT IT WAS ALL IN VAIN
FOUND NO LUCK ON EASY STREET
NOW I'M STUCK IN MEMORY LANE

There were dreams to behold
But that story's getting old
I know only too well 'bout those scenes
Been here may times before
I know that I know the score
I got all the ways but ain't got the means

I WAS LIGHT ON MY FEET
BUT IT WAS ALL IN VAIN
FOUND NO LUCK ON EASY STREET
NOW I'M STUCK IN MEMORY LANE
